Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
Below are instructions to make an RMD contribution to the Upstate Foundation using cash, wire transfer or stock. Please note that a transfer from an RMD must come directly from the investment account to the Upstate Foundation.
It is helpful if the donor confirms the donation, and its purpose, so the Foundation office can document his/her intention in our records. This can be done via email to the Foundation staff member you are working with or to FDN@upstate.edu.
For year-end giving in particular, it is important to note that unlike other gifts, if an IRA account check is used, the date of gift is NOT established by the postmark of when check is mailed or received by the charity, but rather when the IRA administrator transfers funds AFTER the charity deposits the check.
