2024 Recap: Upstate Foundation hosts record-setting event in support of cancer care and research
It was the golf tournament of mosts: most amount raised, most number of golfers and most sponsors.
The Upstate Foundation recently hosted the 37th annual Upstate Open to support pediatric and adult cancer care and research, raising a record-setting $320,000. Held at the Turning Stone Resort Casino, Aug. 8, the tournament featured two morning and afternoon flights on two courses for the first time with nearly 400 golfers (96 teams) competing for first- through fifth-place honors.
“We were thrilled with the level of support this year as 106 sponsors directed their philanthropic support to cancer care,” said Eric Stensland, director of corporate development at the Upstate Foundation. “We cannot thank our sponsors enough for supporting the extraordinary work of our amazing doctors and scientists at Upstate Medical University who specialize in cancer care and research.”
The Upstate Foundation is now in “full swing” once again planning the 2024 Gala at the Oncenter in downtown Syracuse on Friday, Nov. 22. The Gala will benefit the Department of Emergency Medicine which provides expert emergency and urgent care for more than 130,000 adult and pediatric patients annually across four emergency departments and one pediatric urgent care setting.
