Nappi Wellness Institute

Travelers along Interstate 81 through downtown Syracuse may notice a major construction project underway at Upstate Medical University.

It’s the new Nappi Wellness Institute, a five-story, 200,000-square-foot ambulatory care facility that will – when it opens in 2023 – integrate an array of care, research and educational resources focused on preventive health and wellness.

Among the programs and services that will be available at the Nappi Wellness Institute are:

  • nationally recognized programs and research focused on wellness, healthy aging and brain health, including Alzheimer’s disease research and care;
  • an urgent care center, onsite pharmacy, radiology department and lab, to speed and integrate care;
  • increased access to health care for those with special needs;
  • infusion rooms offering convenience and comfort to cancer patients and others with IV needs;
  • expanded adult and pediatric care and services for Joslin Diabetes Center;
  • adult, family and pediatric medicine integrated on a single floor; and
  • educational resources for Upstate internists.

The Nappi Wellness Institute will be a $154 million facility upon completion. The project is employing 1,270 construction workers and yielding a construction-phase economic impact of $231.7 million. It is funded by a grant from the state of New York, matching state bonds, and a generous philanthropic gift from Sam and Carol Nappi of Jamesville, NY.

Opportunities to contribute to the various areas within the Institute are available. The Upstate Foundation has compiled a list of naming opportunities for your consideration.
