What is Call In for Cancer? 

We’re so glad you asked! 

Call in for Cancer is an annual phone-a-thon event whose participants actively raise funds from friends, families and colleagues to support the Upstate Cancer Center’s mission of unwavering dedication to excellence in cancer care.

Hosted by the Upstate Foundation, this event is broadcast on radio and television through our media partners: iHeartMedia, Inc. and CNY Central.

Throughout the day on October 16, 2025, we’ll broadcast information about how the Upstate Cancer Center (UCC) provides the most comprehensive cancer care available in the Central New York area and beyond, serving 22 surrounding counties.

How Can I Help? 

1. Volunteer on the phones
   In the morning (5 am – 9 am) and afternoon (3 pm – 6:30 pm), when our radio and TV partners are broadcasting, we need help at the Cancer Center answering phone calls from people who are calling to make donations. People who volunteer for this job should have good handwriting, be friendly and cheerful, and have lots of patience to fill out pledge forms.
2. Tell the story of your cancer journey at Upstate on the radio or TV
3. If you’re not able to join us in person this year, would you consider making a gift to the Call In for Cancer campaign? (click here)
4. Spread the word on social media, or through email or text.
