This event for people of all abilities is brought to you by The Joe Family Foundation for Disability Advocacy Inc., Fitness Inclusion Network, CNY Adaptive Sports, and Syracuse Parks and Recreation

The Joe Family Foundation for Disability Advocacy Inc. aims to be a catalyst of change for minority youth with disabilities. Supporting the youth and their loved ones, by providing a trusted platform for networking. Ensuring that no matter the disability or racial ethnicity, life goals can be achieved through education, advocacy, and partnership building. Bringing light to the unique issues faced daily by youth of color with disabilities and their loved ones.

The Golisano Center for Special Needs at Upstate Medical University is an umbrella of initiatives focused on 1) providing comprehensive, coordinated and scientifically-based medical and behavioral clinical care for children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD); 2) educating the next generation of I/DD practitioners; 3) research to understand the root genetic causes of disabling conditions and pioneering new ways to treat challenging behaviors, and 4) promoting inclusive fitness and active, healthy lifestyles for children and adolescents with I/DD through collaborative programs with educational and community- based organizations.

The TRAID Center at AccessCNY is a free lending library for the community that features durable medical equipment and assistive technology. TRAID is actively working with community partners to include more adaptive recreation equipment to the library such as adapted cycles and kayaks. An inclusive community involves having people with disabilities included in all aspects of life, whether at home, school, work or play.

“This fun event is focused on ability and wellness for children with disabilities. Join us!,” said, Nienke P. Dosa, MD, MPH, Developmental Pediatrician, Golisano Center for Special Needs.
