White Coat Ceremony Welcomes Over 160 New Healthcare Students
In August, the College of Health Professions hosted its annual White Coat Ceremony, a significant milestone that marks the official start of our students' medical and clinical training. Over 160 new healthcare students were welcomed into the profession in a ceremony steeped in tradition and meaning.
The event, generously sponsored by Nascentia Health, brought together faculty, students, and alumni. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Nascentia Health for their invaluable support, helping to make this momentous occasion possible. Their commitment to the next generation of healthcare professionals is deeply appreciated by all who attended.
Attendees heard remarks from a distinguished group of speakers, including Upstate Medical University President Mantosh Dewan, MD; College of Health Professions Dean Katherine Beissner, PT, PhD; Kenneth Chrestler, BSN, RN, Clinical Supervisor for Nascentia Health; and Brian Goodrich '14, MBA, RT(T), President of the Health Professions Alumni Association. Each speaker shared heartfelt words of wisdom and inspiration for the journey ahead. Additionally, Sabrina Martinez, a current Doctor of Physical Therapy student set to graduate in 2026, offered her perspective on navigating the program and encouraged the incoming students with her own experiences.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the white coats, a symbol of the students' dedication to patient care and ethical practice, presented by the Health Professions Alumni Association.
Following the presentation, students recited the Oath of the Health Professions, affirming their commitment to the values of compassion, integrity, and service that will guide them throughout their careers.
We congratulate all of our new students on this important step and wish them success as they begin their journey toward becoming the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Each white coat is generously provided by the Health Professions Alumni Association. If you'd like your gift to help with the purchase of white coats, please click here and choose Health Professions Alumni Annual Fund in the drop down menu.
