According to US News & World Report, Upstate University Hospital’s Department of Urology has a rating of excellent in “prevention of prolonged hospitalizations” and “advanced technologies.”

Grateful patients

Frank of Cicero knows firsthand what it means to be seen by doctors who are experts in prostate cancer surgery and who excel at minimizing potential complications.

“I can’t thank Dr. Oleg Shapiro enough for his expertise and caring,” said Frank. “It’s great to have a team help me through some terrible times.”

Bill came to Upstate University Hospital and was treated by Dr. Dmitriy Nikolavsky, of the Department of Urology, who performed a procedure that re-established Bill’s ability to continue an active and full life.

“You have truly given me an enormous gift, and I want you to know that I appreciate you and your enormous talent,” Bill wrote in a tribute to Dr. Nikolavsky.

Martha Papworth O'Neill Cancer Research Endowment (69405): To support renal cancer research in the Department of Urology.
Prostate Cancer Care and Research Fund (39430): To support prostate cancer patient care, research and education at Upstate.
